Corporate Durian Gifts in Singapore: A Year-End Guide

Boxes of Spike Durian Mao Shan Wang and an open tray of durian on an office pantry counter with coffee and plates

Corporate durian gifts work well in Singapore when two things are true: the people receiving them enjoy durian, and the delivery is planned around them. Premium Mao Shan Wang (MSW) can make a year-end gift that clients and teams remember, because it is something people here share rather than set aside. Timing works in its favour too. As of October 2026, Malaysia's main mid-year season is over, and our Pahang Old-Tree Mao Shan Wang was fresh-locked at peak season, so you can still give peak-season MSW in December. We take corporate orders from 30 boxes, with 7 days' lead time.

Why durian works as a year-end corporate gift

Many year-end corporate gifts in Singapore look alike: hampers, wine, a branded notebook. Durian is different because it turns into a small occasion. A team opens it together in the pantry. A client who loves durian tells someone about it the next day.

Using durian to look after clients isn't new. In 2015, Standard Chartered's news release on its annual client durian party at Clifford Square quoted Kenneth Tham, then its Head of Commercial Clients in Singapore: "an event our durian loving clients look forward to, and an experience we share and talk about well after the event." That was a large party in the middle of the season. A boxed gift is smaller, but it works for the same reason.

Then there is the calendar. Malaysia's 2026 mid-year durian season ended in September. There's often a smaller second crop around November and December, but its timing moves with the weather and there are fewer varieties. That is a lot to depend on when your gift has a fixed date. Ours was fresh-locked at peak season with Agrifreeze, with no preservatives or additives, so a box delivered in December doesn't depend on the December harvest. We explain how in the science behind Agrifreeze.

When durian is the wrong choice

Durian divides people, and a gift should never put someone on the spot. Before you order, check three things.

  • Do they eat it? Some people don't, for reasons of taste, culture or diet. You don't need to know why.
  • Is the office fine with it? The smell carries, and not every workplace or building wants it in a shared pantry.
  • Will they be there? Plenty of people take leave in late December. Someone has to receive the delivery, because the durian is chilled and perishable, so a box sent to an empty office doesn't work.

To find out, ask the client's PA or office manager, or run a quick poll in your team. If the answers are mixed, it's fine to send durian to the people who love it and something else to everyone else.

Client gifts vs team appreciation: two different plans

Client gifts

Plan each box as a delivery to a person, not to a building.

  • Name a recipient who will be in on the day to receive it.
  • Pick a working day before their office closes for the holidays.
  • Check the time. Our standard delivery slots are 4pm to 9pm on weekdays and 12pm to 6pm on weekends. If your client's office empties at six, raise it when you order.
  • Make sure there's a fridge. The durian goes in as soon as it arrives and is best eaten within 2 days, ideally within 12 to 24 hours. Never the freezer: it must not be refrozen.
  • Choose the size. One box per person suits individual clients. For a client's whole team, sending all the boxes to one address is simpler.

Team appreciation

For your own people, one delivery to the office on a day when everyone is in is the easiest plan. You don't need a full corporate durian party. Book a pantry or meeting room, keep the boxes in the fridge, then take them out 20 to 30 minutes before you eat and let them rest at room temperature with the lids open.

How many boxes? Each 400–450 g box holds as much as one whole durian. We don't publish a serving size, so treat this as a rough rule of thumb: if each person has about 100 g, one box covers about four people. A team of 20 would need about five boxes. Adjust for your team: the durian lovers will want more, and some people won't have any. Check the pantry fridge has room for every box before the delivery comes.

By that maths, 30 boxes suits a long client list or a town hall. Smaller teams can order from the shop.

How a corporate durian order works at Spike

For 30 boxes or more, use the form on our corporate durian orders page. It asks for your name, company, email, contact number, the number of boxes and the date you need them. Our corporate concierge will get in touch within 24 hours to go through your order. Corporate orders need 7 days' lead time.

For fewer than 30 boxes, order through the shop as usual and choose the delivery date and time slot at checkout. For other bulk questions, email hello@spikedurian.sg.

Have these ready before you fill in the form:

  • The number of boxes, from your gift list or the rule of thumb above.
  • The delivery date you want, plus a backup date.
  • The delivery address, or your list of addresses.
  • A contact at each address who will be there to receive it.

Two questions are worth raising with the concierge at the start. Can the order be split across several addresses? And what delivery times are possible on your date? Settle both before you tell clients or your team that durian is on the way.

Year-end timeline: work back from the delivery date

  1. November: settle the list. Who gets durian, who doesn't eat it, and who will be away. Confirm a recipient and address for each delivery.
  2. At least 7 days before delivery: place the corporate order. Seven days is the minimum lead time. Give yourself more, so there is room for internal approvals and late changes to the list.
  3. When you order: confirm the date and time. Check your delivery date with us when you order, especially if it falls in the last two weeks of December. We deliver on 25 December and 1 January too, but many offices are closed on those days.
  4. A few days before: tell the recipients. Let them know it arrives chilled, goes straight into the fridge, and is best eaten within a day or two.
  5. Delivery day: before offices close. Choose a working day when the recipient is in.
